“A figment of your imagination. A glitch in this reality.”
Unraveled Artist Interview:
Q: Why did you make this song? What does it mean to you?
A: Ralgy: Xibalbia is an exploration of the demons within us all. I made this song because it had to be made. The name Xibalbia is a misspelling of the actual word Xibalba, an underground world of the dead that is known in Mayan Mythology.
A: Alex: It means a celebration, a sort of cramped leg dancing. Whenever I hear Xibalbia by myself I cover my eyes and remember adolescent promises.
A: Manny: I didn’t make it. But I really love it because to me it sounds very ethereal at times and I really get into it.
Q: What do you want listeners to understand from this creation?
A: Ralgy: I say take whatever you can from it. I’m not going to force a perspective of it on anyone.
A: Manny: I just want them to bob their heads and eat cake.
Q: How can people support you further?
A: Ralgy: We’re releasing our album, Midnight Sun. Buy it because we’re poor.
A: Alex: Buy our album and tell your friends about us, we want to have enough money to travel and tickle your ear-sockies.
A: Manny: We hope to tour soon so anything really helps. A shout out, a purchase, whatever you want.
Q: What is your ultimate vision for your work?
A: Ralgy: To rule the world. And then give out free Aged Canadian Cheddar. Pounds of it. I think that would stop wars or whatever. Right? I don’t know, I’m not a politician.
A: Alex: To lend our souls proactively through our music, ultimately becoming a friendly whisper to all those whom still remember what it’s like to count with their fingers. We are all about love; everything we do is inspired by some sort of love. The result of our music is through that solidified chemistry. I want to spread my love, I want to love you. Also, I want my music to become into a creepy fragile loving gnome, the kind that is found in those Colombian folklore stories.
A: Manny: We just wanna be able to feed our families doing what we love most in this world.
Q: Do you consider your music to fall within a genre(s)?
A: Ralgy:We’re mostly Prog Rock. I’d like to keep it at that so we don’t confuse anyone.
A: Alex: We are Future jazz
A: Manny: That’s a tough one. I never really think about it but I guess you could call THIS album a mix of Rock, Funk, Progressive, Blues. But keep your head on a swivel for the next CD ’cause no two songs we make are the same…at ALL.
