“I fill the world with much needed sarcasm, but also am a universal shoulder to cry on.”
Unraveled Artist Interview:
Q: Why did you make this song? What does it mean to you?
A: I made this song shortly after some much heated emails between my estranged mother and myself. I didn’t realize that’s what I was doing until I got to the second verse. The first verse is what I’d say to her, and the second is what I imagined she’d say to me. It’s all very dramatic. I’m sure she’ll never hear it, but I don’t think she ever realized the intense power she had over my sense of self worth. It felt good to tell it. Even if she never knows.
Q: What do you want listeners to understand from this creation?
A: I guess I’d want them to understand that I’m offering up an explanation for some of my “issues.” I know the whole mother/daughter thing is very common, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks herself a huge disappointment to a parent.
Q: How can people support you further?
A: It would be awesome if they would download the album legally, and from a site that actually will pay me more than 1/16th of a penny. (I’m lookin’ at you Spotify). Even if they’re not into it, maybe they could share it with someone who might be.
Q: What is your ultimate vision for your work?
A: I’d really like to get more involved in licensing. I’m a little introverted (ok… I might have thrown up from stage fright WHILE actually singing maybe once), so I don’t perform too often. I like to hide out and write and then see if any music supervisors like it for a project. I also would LOVE to be covered by another artist. That would be really, really cool! To see an indie artist singing one of my songs would really make my day.
Q: Do you consider your music to fall within a genre(s)?
A: I opted for the term “Alternative” with influences of world, blues and soul.
